Preparing Our Next Generation for Economic Success

To prepare our youth is to prepare our future. And so, CITY Furniture has partnered with the Junior Achievement of South Florida program to help the brilliant minds of our younger generations get a firm grasp on not just their future, but the future as a whole. For just a bit of insight, as an organization, JA (Junior Achievement) strives to address crucial challenges that today’s youth can benefit from getting help with. They define these challenges as: Financial Literacy, Student Disengagement, and Skills Gap.

JA sets its goal on addressing these issues because they see matters like finance courses being nominal or not even offered in some education systems, thirty percent of students not completing their high school studies on time, and communities that are lacking in practical problem-solving. Believing in the potential of today’s children, JA refuses to leave our treasured successors to fend for themselves. Their goal is to reinforce an appreciation for academics, provide practical experiences to learn from, and give students opportunities to retain valuable lessons that will help them reach whatever career goals they set for themselves.

In order to address these issues ourselves and help prepare the next generation for worldly success, our partnership with JA accomplishes many things. We have provided a CITY Furniture storefront in JA’s Finance Park, for an immersive experience in learning aspects of finance. We work with students in Florida schools that have joined JA’s Career Bound program, providing engaging exercises to bolster problem-solving skills. And, for those who prefer a more hands-on approach, we provide high school student internships to those who would like to join our team and familiarize themselves with the ins and outs of building their career. It’s all part of CITY’s 5% Giving Pledge, which is our commitment to give back a minimum of five percent of annual profits to uplift our community.
