Embracing Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month: The Color of Empowerment, Healing, and Tranquility
Pink: The Color of Empowerment, Healing, and Tranquility.
Pink: The Color of Empowerment, Healing, and Tranquility. Softness and Strength.
Recognized globally as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, October provides a unique opportunity to embrace the color pink in more ways than one. This October, honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month by making pink your interior's primary color. Designer Jennifer Koff shares her tips on making the most out of pink for your space.
The Pink-Dominated Color Story
A pink-dominated color story involves styling with multiple shades of pink instead of isolating just one and making it your pop of color amid a backdrop of neutrals, bold colors, or patterns. Transition from light to dark shades while staying within the same color family, and make your pop of color a complementary hue you'd least expect. Consider the living room below, which features our Destin Joya Pink Modular Collection styled with pinkish accents.
Key Furniture and Decor Elements
- Destin Joya Light Pink Velvet 5pc Bumper Sectional: Make this soothing hue and soft velvet texture the cornerstone of your living room.
- Destin Joya Light Pink Velvet Armless Chair: Being a part of the modular collection, this piece can serve as an accent chair on its own.
- Darby White Marble Round Coffee Table: Counterbalance the softness of pink with the rugged beauty of natural elements like marble or stone.
- Reign Light Pink 22" Accent Pillow: Opt for a slightly deeper shade that serves as the mid-range in your pink color story.
- Henley Light Pink 24" Accent Pillow: Consider using this lighter shade as the base of your color story, rather than a conventional neutral like white or gray.
Adding Pops of Complementary Colors
- Lauran Orange 24" Accent Pillow: Choose a deep rust hue with pink undertones to add depth.
- Reign Light Green Lumbar Accent Pillow: This cool-toned pillow serves as a complementary balance to pink’s warmth.
- Emmy Light Blue 8x10 Area Rug: This rug’s worn print acts as a unifying element, bringing together cool and warm tones in the room.
- Stellan White Canvas Wall Art: This piece helps to tie your color story together, echoing the shades found in your choice of pillows.
The Pink Pumpkins Story
Every story has a hero. The Pink Pumpkins got their start with Doreen Koenig, mother of CEO Andrew Koenig and our “CITY mom.” She was always known for her philanthropy, and one of her biggest causes was ending breast cancer, long before she was diagnosed in 2015.
As Doreen reached the end of her brave battle, she had the idea to give out thousands of Pink Pumpkins buckets for Halloween, filling our community with the color of hope for breast cancer awareness.
This year, we’re inviting everyone to be a superhero by visiting a CITY Furniture showroom. Together, we can finally put an end to breast cancer.
