American Heart Association
We teamed up with the American Heart Association (AHA) to tackle a cause near and dear to our hearts. Together, we are working to raise money and awareness to fight scary statistics—cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in America and the number one killer of women. Also, heart disease is the leading cause of death worldwide.
Our founder, Kevin Charles Koenig, passed away due to heart complications, so we’ve incorporated the fight against heart disease into our mission to make the world a better place. In addition to fundraising, we’ve added displays to our showroom to invite our guests to get involved with this cause. We are also inviting our associates to participate in Wear Red Day and make American Heart Association donations.
Joining the cause of heart awareness month supports the AHA, and the health pillar of CITY’s 5% Giving Pledge. We stand with our community in the fight against heart disease and commit to raising money and raising awareness every year. Therefore, we are contributing $500,000 to the AHA though CITY’s 5% Giving Pledge.
As the number of global deaths relating to heart disease continue to rise, the importance of highlighting heart health remains vital. Exercising and eating healthy are a couple of the most popular heart health tips, but getting enough sleep, managing stress, and practicing mindfulness are sometimes overlooked. Heart disease and sleep disorders oftentimes appear together. High levels of stress decrease the quality of our lives and health. Mindfulness may help with stress management, improving the quality of sleep, and other factors that may lower our risk of heart disease. It is important for us to maintain healthy behaviors during heart health month and all year long.
